It's real world text that you would find in an article or book, not just a series of the same 50 or so words that you repeatedly type. ![]() I like Type Racer over other methods of practice for a few reasons. Here is what I was just able to do on Type Racer ( ), which I definitely recommend: The rate of improvement has dropped off severely (if it exists at all). Even though I'm still practicing about 30-45 minutes per day, I'm not seeing much improvement. However, for the past 3 or so weeks, I haven't been improving. And now, I can mash out about 75 WPM consistently. After the first week, I was up to 50 WPM. I was only able to do about 45 words per minute. ![]() This is when I sucked it up and decided to learn home row. After I set it up and plugged it in, I started typing.only to realize I couldn't type anything - the muscle memory I had developed over the years was specific to my previous keyboard, and even though this Logitech keyboard was a typical QWERTY keyboard, everything was off and I could barely type. Well, I picked up a new keyboard (Logitech G170), which was also my first mechanical keyboard. And for a while, I never really had any desire to improve my typing ability or to learn home row. I used 3-4 fingers, and while I could touch type, it was anything but elegant. For years, I had a rather atypical, unorthodox method of typing. ![]()
